04 March 20

The Iraq Occupation continues.... along with US imperialism and militarism, over 4000 GI's dead, plus thousands of contractors, and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi family members.

March 20th, 2004 marked the one year anniversary of the Iraqi War.  We chose to have an event which demonstrated the human cost of that war with "Time to Reflect on the Effects of War".  A named luminary for each of the Americans killed in that action so far was announced and displayed.  Posters and pictures about Iraqi casualties and the war's effect on Iraqi civilians.

Craig takes the flags up and then back down to half mast under a cold and cloudy sky.

Craig, Kathy, and Josh prep for the luminary setup.

Box after box after box, they keep coming to us, one for each Iraqi vet that has given their life.

The veterans name and hometown is called out as it's placed.

Somehow a bag with a name doesn't seem like enough recognition.....

Reno and Vickie start the next row.....

It slowly and then quickly sinks into all of us just how many 572 deaths really is.

Becky helps with her energy and insights, having worked for peace all her life.

Our Arlington Sheboygan.
